minus5 ICEBAR
A Chilly Las Vegas Bar Engineering DesignProject Summary
ICEBAR at The LINQ Promenade is 1,200 SF and kept at 23-degrees Fahrenheit. It is made from nearly 100 tons of ice shipped to Las Vegas from Canada and Minnesota. Twelve professional ice carvers worked around-the-clock to construct the ice bar out of 650 blocks of ice, creating sculptures to fill the space, as well as a 10-foot-by-10-foot operational bar.
Design included power, lighting, HVAC and plumbing design for the bar, lobby, Ice Lounge, and Freezer areas and connection to specialty equipment designed by others such as freezer cooling equipment, AV systems and specialty lighting.
Our team had the challenge of creating the electrical systems designs that would allow for the property to be kept at a steady 23 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees is freezing temperature).
The innovative cooling system uses new technology that makes automatic temperature adjustments. These constant adjustments help to counter body heat from customers to keep the 100 tons of ice sculptures from melting.
